What Upload-Lift actually does
Upload fields can be placed on the product page, cart, contact page, registration page, order status page and thank-you page, with an extension for Shopify’s new customer accounts, and the listing states no theme modification is required. You configure which file types are allowed, which matters both for your production workflow and for keeping unwanted file types off your server. Uploaded files link to the order, so the artwork and the order it belongs to stay together.
The image editor lets the customer crop before uploading, free cropping, predefined ratios or custom crop shapes, so you receive artwork in the proportions you need. File conversion runs server-side and supports pdf, ai, tiff, heic, svg, docx and xlsx, with PDF image editing and file info extraction such as page count and audio length. Upload size limits rise by tier from 10MB free to 5GB on Pro, with archive space from 10GB to 100GB.

Before you spend trial time
- Work out which add-ons you need and add $9 each to the tier price before deciding
- Count uploads linked to orders per month, not total uploads, since that is the meter
- Test with your customers’ real file types, including phone photos in HEIC
- Check a file arrives at usable resolution for your production process, not just that it uploads
- If you stay on free, set a routine for downloading files before the 30-day storage expires
- Try an upload on the order status page if you ever collect artwork after checkout

Closing take
For a store that takes customer artwork, having the file arrive attached to the order rather than in an inbox is worth the subscription on its own, and the crop-before-upload editor quietly prevents a whole category of production problems.
Just price it honestly. The tier list looks cheap until you add the three features sold at $9 each, and the combination you need may cost more than the plan above. Work out your real monthly total during the 7-day trial, and keep an eye on the 30-day file retention if you stay free.

Frequently asked questions
Where can customers upload files?
Product page, cart, contact page, registration page, order status page and thank-you page, plus an extension for Shopify’s new customer accounts. The order status and thank-you placements are useful when artwork is collected after the order is placed.
How much does Upload-Lift cost?
Free for 50 uploads linked to orders with 10MB files and 30-day storage, then $9, $19 and $29 a month for larger allowances, file sizes and archive space. File conversion, the advanced image editor and customer account integration each add $9 a month.
Do uploaded files stay linked to the order?
Yes, that is the main reason to use a dedicated upload app rather than email. The file and the order stay together, which removes the matching work and the mistakes that come with it.
Can customers crop images before uploading?
Yes, with free cropping, predefined ratios or custom crop shapes. For print and personalisation that saves a lot of back-and-forth about proportions and framing.
What file types are supported?
You configure which types are allowed, and server-side conversion covers pdf, ai, tiff, heic, svg, docx and xlsx, though conversion is one of the +$9 add-ons. HEIC support matters because that is what iPhones produce by default.
How long are files kept?
Thirty days on the free plan, with archive space of 10GB to 100GB on paid tiers. If you are on free, download anything you need before it expires.
