Quick answer

EcomXray shows the product numbers Shopify doesn’t surface: pick any product and see its cost price, gross margin, current stock, and net units sold over the last 30, 90, or 365 days with refunds, cancellations, and test orders excluded, plus a restock recommendation based on real 30-day sales velocity. The analytics are free; a $29/month Pro tier adds in-place product editing with an audit log and a Chrome storefront extension. It launched July 20, 2026 and has no reviews yet.

🎯
Our Verdict

Shopify’s own reports answer ‘what sold’ but make you work for ‘what did we actually earn on this product and when do we reorder it’, the two questions that decide whether a SKU deserves shelf space. EcomXray’s scope is exactly that gap: per-product cost price, gross margin, net units sold over 30/90/365 days (with refunds, cancellations, and test orders excluded, a detail that makes the numbers honest), and a restock recommendation computed from your real 30-day velocity. The free plan covers all of that, which makes this one of the easier zero-risk installs we’ve covered. The $29 Pro tier is a different product: in-place editing of names, prices, and SEO fields with automatic URL redirects and a full audit log, plus a Chrome extension for storefront pages. The obvious caveats: the app launched July 20, 2026, days before this review, with zero reviews, so reliability is unproven; margin math is only as good as the cost-per-item fields you’ve filled in Shopify; and at $29 the editing tier competes with dedicated bulk editors. Data access is refreshingly narrow (products, 60 days of orders). Install the free tier, check its numbers against a product you know by heart, and it earns its place or doesn’t in an afternoon.

What EcomXray actually does

EcomXray is a product-numbers panel inside the Shopify admin. Select a product and it shows cost price, gross margin computed from your real Shopify cost-per-item data, current stock, and net units sold across 30, 90, and 365-day windows. ‘Net’ is doing real work there: refunds, cancellations, and test orders are excluded, so a product that sold 100 and refunded 30 reads as 70, not as a bestseller. A revenue rank surfaces which products actually drive the store, and the restock recommendation translates your trailing 30-day sales velocity into what to reorder and when.

The Pro tier ($29/month, 14-day trial) turns the read-only panel into a workbench: edit product names, descriptions, and prices without leaving the page, manage SEO fields with automatic URL redirects when handles change, publish to channels, and manage collections, every change recorded in a full audit log of who changed what, when. An optional Chrome extension brings stock value and editing onto your storefront product pages. Data access is narrow for the category: products, order history (60 days), locations, and navigation, no customer personal data.

Pros & cons

✓ Pros
  • The free plan covers the whole analytics core: cost, margin, net units over 30/90/365 days, revenue rank, and restock recommendations
  • Net figures exclude refunds, cancellations, and test orders, so the numbers reflect what you actually kept
  • Restock recommendation from real 30-day sales velocity answers ‘what do I reorder and when’ directly
  • Narrow data access (products, 60 days of orders), no customer personal data involved
  • Pro’s editing comes with automatic URL redirects on handle changes and a full audit log, two details bulk-editing mistakes usually expose
✗ Cons
  • Launched July 20, 2026 with zero reviews, as new as a listing can be, so reliability and support are entirely unproven
  • Margin math depends on your Shopify cost-per-item fields being filled and accurate; empty cost data means empty insights
  • No Built for Shopify badge yet
  • $29/month for the Pro editing tier overlaps with dedicated bulk editors that carry long track records
  • English only, and the deeper profit stack (ad spend, LTV, channel profitability) is out of scope, this is product-level, not P&L

05

Before you spend trial time

  • 1Install the free tier and check the margin figure on a product whose economics you know by heart, this validates the whole app in one look.
  • 2Verify your cost-per-item fields are filled in Shopify first; the margin math is only as good as that data.
  • 3Compare a restock recommendation against your own reorder instinct for one fast-moving product.
  • 4Confirm the net-units figure matches your mental accounting on a product with recent refunds.
  • 5If you try Pro’s editing, rename one product and confirm the automatic URL redirect works on the storefront.
  • 6Check the audit log records your test edits with who/what/when before trusting it for team accountability.

07

Closing take

EcomXray puts cost, margin, net units, and restock timing on one screen inside the admin, keeps the data honest by excluding refunds and test orders, and gives the analytics away free, with a $29 editing tier whose URL redirects and audit log show someone thought about the failure modes.

Bottom line: it’s days old and unproven, but the free tier means the proof costs you nothing. Check its numbers against a product you know; if they hold, you’ve gained a margin panel for free and can decide about Pro later.

Frequently asked questions

What does EcomXray show that Shopify doesn’t?

Per-product profit context in one place: cost price, gross margin from your real cost-per-item data, current stock, and net units sold over 30/90/365 days with refunds, cancellations, and test orders excluded, plus a restock recommendation from your trailing 30-day sales velocity. Shopify has pieces of this across reports; EcomXray puts it on one panel.

Is EcomXray free?

The analytics core is: cost and margin, net units sold, revenue rank, and restock recommendations all sit on the free plan. Pro at $29/month (14-day trial) adds in-place product editing, SEO fields with automatic redirects, channel publishing, the audit log, and the Chrome extension.

How accurate is the margin data?

As accurate as your inputs: it computes gross margin from the cost-per-item values on your Shopify products. If those fields are empty or stale, fill them first, that’s true of every profit tool, and it’s the first thing to check on the free tier.

What does the restock recommendation actually do?

It converts your real last-30-day sales velocity into a reorder suggestion, what to restock and when, so slow-movers don’t get reordered on autopilot and fast-movers don’t stock out. Sanity-check it against your own instinct on a product you know before relying on it.

How does it compare to full profit-analytics apps like Selixer?

Different weight class. EcomXray is product-level: margin, units, restock, free to start. Tools like Selixer track profit and LTV across ads, channels, and cohorts at $149+/month. If you just need to know which SKUs earn and when to reorder, start free here; if you need the full P&L picture, that’s the heavier category.

How established is EcomXray?

Brand new: launched July 20, 2026 by aMemory ApS (Sønderborg, Denmark), with no reviews yet and no Built for Shopify badge. The mitigating factors: data access is narrow (products and 60 days of orders, no customer personal data) and the analytics tier is free, so testing it risks nothing but a few minutes.
