Options Price Calculator Review (2026)
Price by width times height instead of inventing a variant for every size, with a review base still in the twenties.
SCORE
/10
Options Price Calculator adds custom product options, text fields, number inputs, dropdowns, swatches, file uploads, date pickers, and calculates the price from them using formulas, so made-to-measure products can be priced by dimensions without creating a variant for every combination. It holds 5.0 from 26 reviews and carries the Built for Shopify badge. The free plan is limited to 20 uses and is permanently free on development stores; Starter is $9.99 a month for unlimited options and the formula builder, and Premium is $14.99 and adds conditional pricing logic and a live product preview.

What Options Price Calculator actually does
Options are assembled in a drag-and-drop builder from text fields, number inputs, dropdowns, radio buttons, checkboxes, multi-select, date pickers, swatches, file uploads and size charts, with the styling, colours, borders, radius, set per form. Each field can feed a pricing formula, so a price can be calculated from width times height, from a quantity, from a weight, or from any combination, with product metafields usable as inputs. The price recalculates live as the customer fills the form, and a real-time breakdown can be displayed as a table or text on the Premium tier.
Two capabilities sit above the basics. Conditional logic, on Premium, makes fields and prices depend on earlier choices, which is what turns a form into a configurator for products with dependent options. And a live visual preview lets fields be positioned directly on the product image, a name and number rendered on a shirt, with pattern and colour pickers, so the customer sees the item they are configuring. Selections and the calculated price carry into the cart and checkout as line-item detail, and option labels are translatable across every language the store runs.

Pros & cons
- Prices products by dimensions or quantity without creating a variant for every combination
- Formula builder can read product metafields, so rates live on the product rather than in the formula
- Live price updates as the customer fills the form, with selections carried into cart and checkout
- Live visual preview places fields on the product image for personalised items
- Built for Shopify badge, and $9.99-$14.99 is modest for the problem it removes
- 26 reviews and an August 2025 launch, a thin base, however good the rating
- The free plan is capped at 20 uses, so it is a trial rather than a tier
- Conditional logic, which most made-to-measure sellers need, requires the $14.99 Premium tier
- Calculated prices sit outside Shopify’s variant system, so check how your reporting and feeds treat them
- We have not run it on a live store; this assessment comes from the listing, pricing and review distribution

Before you spend trial time
- Build your single most complicated product first, if the formula survives that, the rest is easy
- Spend the 20 free uses deliberately rather than testing idly, because they are the whole free allowance
- Check whether you need conditional logic before choosing a tier; if you do, start on Premium
- Place a real test order and confirm the calculated price and the chosen options appear correctly at checkout
- Check how a calculated-price line item appears in your analytics, accounting export and any product feeds
- Test the form on mobile, where number inputs and swatch grids are hardest to use

Closing take
This solves a specific and genuinely annoying problem. Shopify’s variant model cannot express ‘any width between 20 and 240 centimetres’, and stores that sell that way have usually been working around it with quote forms, email ping-pong or a wall of near-identical variants. A formula and a few fields replaces all of that.
The caution is the review base rather than the product: 26 reviews is thin, and the app is about a year old. It holds the Built for Shopify badge and the reviews that exist are detailed and positive, including from merchants who have run it for months. Build your hardest product during the trial, place a real test order, and you will know within an afternoon whether it fits.

Frequently asked questions
Can Shopify calculate prices by dimensions?
Not natively. Shopify prices variants, so a product sold by width and height needs either a variant for every combination or an app that calculates the price from entered measurements. This app does the latter, using a formula over the fields you define.
Is Options Price Calculator free?
There is a free plan with a 20-use limit, and it is permanently free on development stores. For a live store the practical plans are Starter at $9.99 a month and Premium at $14.99, which adds conditional logic and the live preview.
What is the difference between Starter and Premium?
Starter covers unlimited options, the formula builder, metafield integration, styling and multilingual support. Premium adds conditional logic for dynamic pricing, a font picker, the live product personaliser preview and a real-time price breakdown.
Will the custom options show at checkout?
Yes, the selections and the calculated price carry through to the cart and checkout as line-item detail. Place a real test order during setup to confirm it reads correctly on the order you will have to fulfil.
Does it work for personalised products as well as measured ones?
Yes. Fields can be positioned on the product image for a live preview, a name and number on a shirt, for instance, with swatches, colour and pattern pickers and file uploads for customer-supplied artwork.
Is 26 reviews enough to trust it?
It is a thin base, and we would say so plainly. What offsets it is the Built for Shopify badge, a straight 5.0, and reviews from merchants describing months of continuous use. Test your hardest product during setup rather than assuming it will scale to your catalogue.
