The best Shopify order tracking app in 2026, ranked by what you get for nothing
Four apps, every rating and plan read off the live Shopify App Store listing on 23 October 2026. Two of them pay us, two of them do not, and we say which is which on every row.
Order tracking is two different jobs wearing one category name. The first is customer facing: a branded page that answers “where is my order” so the question never reaches your inbox. The second is financial: pushing tracking numbers back into PayPal and Stripe so those processors see confirmed delivery and stop holding your money. An app that is good at one is not automatically good at the other, and buying the wrong one is how stores end up paying for two apps that both half-solve the problem.
We rank the customer-facing apps first, then handle the PayPal job separately at the end. One note before the list: Track123 held the top slot on this page until October 2026, when it was removed from the Shopify App Store. Its listing now returns “this app is not currently available” and we could not find a renamed version, so it is out of the ranking entirely. That last row needs a caveat, because it is the one most roundups skip. Shop is free and it does give buyers order status, but tracking lives inside the Shop app and on Shopify’s domain, not on a branded page you control, and you cannot restyle it, add upsells to it or mask dropshipping origins with it. It is a fine floor and a bad ceiling. If your goal is a tracking page that looks like your store, you need one of the other three.

CWILL gives you 20 at the same price, and Trackr gives you nothing. BestTrack also carries the Built for Shopify badge, which Shopify only grants on performance and embedded-admin criteria, so it is not a thin wrapper. You get a branded tracking page, email notifications with custom templates, custom checkpoints, dropshipping mode and location masking. What you are giving up is history: it launched on 13 April 2026 and has 14 reviews (86% of them five stars). On an app this young you are trusting the badge and the free tier rather than a long record, so install it on a store you can watch for a fortnight before you depend on it.

If you want the safest choice rather than the cheapest one, this is it, and we earn nothing from telling you so. CWILL holds 5.0 stars across 3,183 reviews — 97% of them five star — which is more review volume than every other app on this page combined, several times over. It has been on the App Store since January 2019, carries the Built for Shopify badge, and covers 1,600-plus carriers with real-time sync, a localised branded tracking page, post-purchase delivery estimates and AI product recommendations on the tracking page. The catch is the free plan: 20 orders a month is a demo, not a tier, so most stores land on Essential at $11 for 200 orders or Professional at $59 for 2,000. Reach for it when the cost of an app going wrong is higher than $11 a month.

Trackr: Order Tracking UpSell
Trackr has been on the App Store since August 2015, which is longer than anything else here, and it carries the Built for Shopify badge. You get a branded tracking page, estimated delivery dates, multi-carrier sync and upsell blocks on the tracking page, and every paid tier carries the same feature set — you are buying shipment volume, not features, which makes the pricing unusually easy to reason about. Two things keep it at third. There is no free plan at all, so the entry price is $10 a month for 400 shipments after a 14-day trial. And the ratings are split rather than merely low: 4.2 overall, but 80% five star against 13% one star, with almost nothing in between. A spread like that usually means it either fits your carrier and theme or it does not, so use the trial properly.

None of the three apps above will get a PayPal reserve released on their own. PayPal lifts holds when it sees delivery confirmed, and that means tracking numbers landing inside your PayPal account, not on your storefront. Two apps do that job, and we want to be straight about the comparison because we are partnered with both and the weaker one pays us more.

At the same $9.99 a month, Proveway has 160 reviews at 4.9 and the Built for Shopify badge; Paltrack has 12 reviews at 4.5 and no badge. Proveway also syncs Stripe alongside PayPal and can backfill past orders in one pass. On that evidence Proveway is the one to install. Which one should you actually install?
Four cases cover almost everyone:
- Under 300 orders a month and watching costs: BestTrack, free. You get a branded page and email alerts without a line on the bill. Re-evaluate when you cross 300.
- Orders matter more than $11: CWILL. The 3,183-review record is worth paying for, and Essential at $11 for 200 orders is cheap insurance.
- You want upsells on the tracking page and a fixed feature set: Trackr, but use the 14-day trial hard given how split its ratings are.
- PayPal is sitting on your cash: Proveway, alongside whichever page app you picked. It is a separate job and it does not conflict with them.
One setup note that applies whichever you choose: install on a duplicate of your theme first, push one real order through end to end, and check the tracking page on a phone before you point customers at it. Tracking pages are the one app surface your buyers see at their most anxious, and a broken one costs you more than no page at all.

What happened to Track123?
Track123 was removed from the Shopify App Store in October 2026. Its listing now returns “this app is not currently available” and we found no renamed replacement under any of the handles it might have moved to, so we pulled it out of this ranking and removed the install links. If you were already running it, your tracking pages may keep working until the app is uninstalled, but there is no listing to install from any more and no support channel through the App Store. Which Shopify order tracking app is actually free?
BestTrack has the largest genuinely free tier: 300 tracked orders a month, with a branded page and email notifications included. CWILL has a free plan too but it stops at 20 orders a month. Trackr has no free plan at all and starts at $10 a month. Shopify’s own Shop app is free and unlimited, but tracking lives on Shopify’s domain rather than a page you control.
Is BestTrack safe to install given it only has 14 reviews?
It carries the Built for Shopify badge, which Shopify grants against performance and embedded-admin requirements rather than popularity, so it has cleared a technical bar. But 14 reviews on an app that launched in April 2026 is a short record, and we would not pretend otherwise. Treat the free plan as the trial it effectively is: install it, push real orders through for two weeks, and check the tracking page on a phone before you rely on it.
Do I need both a tracking page app and a PayPal sync app?
Only if PayPal or Stripe is actually holding your money. The two do unrelated jobs: a tracking app builds the customer-facing page that cuts where-is-my-order emails, while a sync app pushes tracking numbers into PayPal so it sees confirmed delivery and releases reserves. They do not conflict, and plenty of stores run one of each. If PayPal has never held funds on you, skip the second app.
Why is CWILL ranked second if it has the best rating?

Does a tracking app reduce support tickets in practice?
The mechanism is real but it is not automatic. Tickets drop when customers can find the page without asking you, which means the tracking link has to be in the shipping confirmation email, on the order status page and ideally in your site navigation. A branded page nobody is pointed at changes nothing. Set up the notification emails at the same time as the page, not later.
